A costume knife is a pretty cheap prop that will probably not stand up to stage combat (a violent disarm for example). They are nice from a few feet away but aren’t appropriate for that type of use. They might be okay to bring trick or treating in a place/time where it is not suspicious and you are not being a jerk to anyone but they could cause a problem if they look real up close. Unless they are painted day-glow orange or something obviously fake I would avoid carrying anything that looks like a weapon if you want to minimize your chances of getting a police visit in the future bcz even a rubber sword can be mistaken for a real thing.
