Gamma – Deku’s Second Upgrade to His Hero Costume

The third letter of the greek alphabet, gamma. In chemistry, gamma represents the energy of an atomic nucleus. In hero-themed games, gamma often symbolizes a character’s power level. It also refers to the atomic number of the element in question.

Gamma is Deku’s second upgrade to his hero costume, the first being costume alpha. This upgrade is more combat-ready, with a darker green that plays better off his red and white accents. In addition, he adds Air Force gloves and forgoes the cowl, although he retains his makeshift respirator from Costume Epsilon. This version also has black knee pads that reach up to his thighs, and his gloves are tinted light beige.

While Hero costumes are a symbol of pride, for Villains they’re something to be hidden behind. This is especially true for Vigilantes, who aren’t allowed to use Hero support items through legal channels. Despite this, there are a few exceptions, like the prosthetic legs of Ectoplasm or the armored legs of Re-Destroy.

However, the majority of Vigilantes wear their costumes to hide their identity as well as to showcase their quirks. They also tend to fight their opponents through illegal channels, like the Naruhata Vigilantes. This leads to many of their battles taking place in the middle of the city, making it difficult for a Hero to track them down and take them out. This makes it even more important for them to keep their costumes up to date with the latest upgrades.
